Hunger Reaches Catastrophic Levels In Sudan
Sudan is currently facing one of the worst food crises in the world. With widespread insecurity, hunger has reached a devastating peak.
Today, 24.6 million people, nearly half the population, are suffering from acute food insecurity. Even more alarming, 638,000 people are facing catastrophic levels of hunger, the highest figure recorded anywhere in the world.
What Freedom Bakeries Is Doing
At Freedom Bakeries, we’ve made it our mission to serve communities in the world’s most deprived and unstable regions. In Sudan, we are actively working to combat hunger by baking and distributing fresh loaves of bread daily to families in desperate need. For many, this simple loaf is the only meal they can rely on.
During the month of Ramadan 2025, when many families in Sudan faced the risk of fasting without food to break their fast, we were able to deliver over 130,000 loaves of bread and 500 food baskets to those in need.
