Each year, 5 million Children Suffer
From Hunger-Related Causes

854 million people are

malnourished

Some 854 million people worldwide are estimated to be undernourished, and high food prices may drive another 100 million into poverty and hunger. The risks are particularly acute among those who must spend at least 60% of their income on food: the urban poor and displaced populations, the rural landless, pastoralists and the majority of smallholder farmers.

23% of the global population

lives below the poverty

Almost a quarter of the global population, 23 percent, lived below the USD $3.65 poverty line, and almost half, 47% lived below the USD $6.85 poverty line, as reported in the 2022 Poverty and Shared Prosperity report

435 million

FAO estimates that at least 435 million people are seriously undernourished in the world today

Other estimates, which use poverty as an indicator, suggest that 800 million people are threatened by hunger, either temporarily or in the long term.
